Tacos Ivan Reviews

Always deliver a unique flavor worth the wait if you don't call ahead or can't get through to order when busy. Especially the potato, egg & cheese. Best version of that I ever had. I grew up on Tacos and with our family owning C stores like this with wonderful Ladies like these making fresh ingredients every day. I go out of my to get these regularly

Breakfast tacos always flavorful, good size, and great value! Plus red and green salsa both good.

Great tacos made to order with really friendly staff. They are really flexible in making you exactly what you want. I recommend the potato, chorizo and egg tacos. Their salsa is always on point!

They have good breakfast tacos here for $3.50 each. I usually order two corn tortillas breakfast tacos each time. I like their sausage with egg and potato with egg breakfast tacos.

Once I found the location, next to HEB, I walked to the rear of the building-in the direction of HEB! I had already studied their menu so I was ready! I ordered the 4 street tacos but I was limited to two kinds-so I got barbacoa & carne guisada. Next time I'll try the chicken, too. I waited for the lady to take my order, I was third in line. She was clear about my order and charged me. There's no place to sit so folks are just waiting around for a bit. I saw a post office guy skip through there. I saw HEB employees on their break ordering lunch there. I saw a local neighbor pick up their phone-in order. Lots of activity for a small place. I'll definitely return.

Small, hidden kitchen at the back of a gas station. The ladies making tacos here are doing the lords work. Lots of ingredients to choose from and the tacos are made fresh to order. Very good. No precooked eggs here. When you order the taco she cracks a fresh egg on the grill and mixes your ingredients. Good salsas as well. Grab a few tacos, an ice cold coke from the fridge, and a couple of Lotto scratchers on your way out. Perfect morning.

The woman at the store front was very nice. I ordered a chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese taco as well as a carne guisada taco. The cheese was just as creamy as some of the other reviewers had suggested. Delicious stuff. The salsa verde was a great mix of flavor and heat. The carne guisada taco was something I didn't expect--it was super flavorful and had the perfect amount of meat and veggies on it. They DO accept card which I was happy about since I pulled cash out for other tacos trucks on my little taco tour. The man at the front of the store was friendly and was nice when I mentioned he didn't give me the discounted drink price advertised. I would go back!

The best tacos come from gas stations. There I said it. And Tacos Ivan is no exception. They're quick and the food is always hot and delicious. I've had the barbacoa, pastor & bean and cheese tacos. They were all delicious flavor wise however the barbacoa was a little dry. The red salsa is tasty and fairly spicy. As for the tortillas I preferred their flour over corn (coming from someone who usually opts for corn). I will definitely miss working close to tacos Ivan but it won't stop me from coming back. Especially to get Pastor plate to go!
Tacos Ivan
Tacos Ivan is the go-to spot for those craving authentic, no-frills Mexican street food in Austin. Located at 7007 Village Center Dr, this casual joint draws regulars and newcomers alike with its smoky grilled meats and unforgettable taco experience.
Tacos Ivan Austin brings the heart of Mexico to your plate
Walk up to Tacos Ivan and you’ll hear it before you smell it—the sizzle of meat hitting the plancha, the rhythmic chop of the cleaver, the hum of hungry chatter. This isn’t your average Tex-Mex spot. Tacos Ivan Austin stays true to traditional flavors, especially with their al pastor—pork marinated in a blend of chili, spices, and pineapple, then slow-roasted on a vertical spit. What hits your tortilla is nothing short of glorious: juicy, charred slices with crispy edges that melt into the warmth of a corn tortilla.
For many locals, this is a weekly ritual. Pull up, order a few tacos, maybe grab a Jarritos or horchata, and stand around the open grill while the magic happens. The menu is lean but focused. Beyond al pastor, you’ve got carne asada, tripas, lengua, and pollo, each served up with cilantro, onions, a squeeze of lime, and a choice of red or green salsa that packs just enough punch to make you break a sweat.
Tacos Ivan’s location adds flavor to Austin’s diverse food scene
Austin’s taco game is strong, but there’s something about Tacos Ivan at 7007 Village Center Dr that hits differently. Maybe it's the open-air setup that reminds you of a late-night street corner in Mexico City. Or the friendly nod from the taquero who’s memorized your order. You’re not walking into a chain or a curated Instagrammable space here—you’re stepping into a slice of real culinary culture.
Located just off Far West Boulevard, Tacos Ivan has nestled itself in a quiet strip with surprising foot traffic. Office workers drop by for lunch, students from UT cruise in for dinner, and late-night eaters swing by for a quick bite before heading home. It’s this versatility, this ability to serve across occasions and cravings, that keeps the crowd coming back.
Every item on the Tacos Ivan menu tells a story
The menu at Tacos Ivan Austin may look straightforward at first glance, but each taco tells a deeper story rooted in family recipes and time-honored techniques. You can taste it in the hand-pressed tortillas, warm and fragrant. You notice it in the balance of textures—crispy bits of meat tucked into soft shells, topped with fresh garnishes and a splash of house-made salsa.
There’s also something personal about the way the food is served here. The grill is open, the cooks are visible, and the pace is fast. There’s no waiting in silence; you’re part of the rhythm. If you ask, they’ll explain where the meat is sourced, how long the al pastor has been marinating, or which salsa they recommend today.
What makes the menu even more special is its uncomplicated nature. It’s built for quick decisions and quick satisfaction. You’re not flipping through pages. You’re choosing between great and greater, depending on your mood.

Best breakfast tacos ever - the egg machicado and pico is my favorite - and their salsa is the best in two - red and green!! I eat here at least twice a week, go check them out.
